Lesson Summary for Nov 6, 2011
Chapter 43, Signs of the Second Coming; Taught by Sister Halbert
Summarized by Liz Thomey
The sisters were asked to identify some of the signs of the Second Coming. The signs included:
* Wars and Rumors of Wars
* Famine
* Floods
* Wickedness
* Turmoil
* Earthquakes
The Restoration of the Gospel was the beginning of the preparation for the Second Coming. Our Heavenly Father wants us to be ready for the Second Coming both physically and spiritually. One way to be recognize the signs is to study the scriptures. The Book of Mormon, especially was written for our time and contain information about the Second Coming.
As part of the Restoration, the priesthood has also been restored and is being taught throughout the world. One sister shared how the gospel is being spread even to China, where proselyting is not allowed. Missionaries serve there as English teachers and are allowed to answer questions when asked.
We should not be afraid of the Second Coming. There are many things to be grateful for. Also, challenges can bring us closer together. By working together and serving each other, we grow while strengthening others. This life is just a twinkle in the grand scheme of things.
